Aline I have been involved with bodywork therapies for over 10 years. My interest in Chinese Medicine, which started in college led me initially to the study and practice of Shiatsu. During this process I became increasingly aware of the deep connection between emotional, energetic and physical states. It was then that I began to combine physiotherapeutic procedures with oriental healing techniques, bringing about excellent results for my patients. With my interest in this approach growing, I moved to England to gain futher knowledge and experience. There I delved more fully into Shiatsu and began working with the healing aspects of the Internal Martial Arts. This work has had a deep impact on both my personal and professional lives. The practices have significantly changed my muscle pattern, enormously increased my body perception and energetic development as well as freed my body from chronic back pain and digestive disorders. Professionaly my own healing process has given me a completely new therapeutic view, which is, that in order to promote good health and exceptional levels of vitality, it is essential to work equally with the physical and energetic bodies. I continue to work with Taoist lineage holder Bruce Kumar Frantzis (world renowned practitioner and teacher of Internal Martial Arts) whose vast experience as a Chi Gung doctor in hospitals and clinics in China informs my own practice. I cannot over state the impact this work has had in my life, and must say that as the years go by I feel more comfortable in my body, emotionally balanced, relaxed and invigorated. As a health care professional I feel immense gratitude and satisfaction at being able to use, in my work with patients, and pass on, through my teaching, such profound knowledge. Edward My interest in Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Gung, Ba Gua and Taoism really grew out of an early fascination with the Tao Te Ching and the I Ching.Texts which embody pin point philosophical accuracy and personal resonance with an astonishing depth and breadth of wisdom, unhindered by time or cultural context. After completing a bachelors degree in music performance (jazz and classical percussion) I embarked on what continues to be an extraordinary learning curve, the basic out line of which is sketched below. The awareness that these practices cultivate continues to fascinate and inspire me. |
