Eight Treasures Chi Gung

In this course participants are taught a complete set of movements which stimulate and balance energy flows along specific meridians. Developed in the twelfth century by Marshall Yueh Fei, it is designed to strengthen the body, balance vital functions, tonify internal organs, build immunity and enhance vitality.

Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body

An extensive programme of classes which present the core principles of Taoist energy work from the ground up. Beginning with the basic Nei Gung standing posture, then integrating these alignments into the movements of Cloud Hands and further into swing movements (which open the joints of the arms and legs and infuse the internal organs with energy), this course also includes the unique Taoist Spinal Stretch (which works with each vertebra and its related nerve and chi flow).

This work improves body alignments, breathing, dissolves muscle tension, increases circulation of chi, strengthens muscles, joints, nerves and organs.

For those already involved in movement practices such as aerobics, running, swimming, gym, yoga, etc., performance will improve and comfort levels in the body will increase and stabilize.

Taught at 3 distinct levels, these classes are tailored to fit the needs of participants, adjusted to their abilities, body types and energetic conditions.

Modified Wu style Tai Chi for Chronic Conditions

The form taught in this course has been developed to meet the particular needs of patients with restricted movements, balance problems, chronic pain or illnesses which effect concentration or physical perception. These problems may have resulted from short-term injury, long-term illness or cumulative conditions.

As with all Tai Chi Chuan, this sequence of 5 movements and transitions is based on relaxation, mobilizing and lengthening the tissue, and consciously engaging joints and alignments in a slow and meditative manner. This process invigorates all body systems, improves posture, breathing and stimulates the body's natural healing power. It gives back to the students their body, their feeling and insight to promote healing in themselves.

This course is offered at 3 levels and includes basic Chi Gung and Taoist Breathing techniques.

Level 1:The process of opening up the body, regeneration of vitality and the sequence of the form.

Level 2: Deeper body connections and the refinement of the form.

Level 3: Exploring the energetic qualities of Tai Chi Chuan.

Taoist Breathing

The clarity of the mind, health and vitality of the body are all directly affected by the quality of the breath.

Taoist breathing exercises enable students to access the full natural capacity of their lungs (see Respiratory System-Chi Gung Benefits). This course will teach immensely valuable techniques for reducing stress, building stamina, and increasing energy levels and immunity.

(It is highly recommended for people with asthma, digestive disorders and cardiovascular syndromes).

Offered at 3 levels.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a complete system of healing touch based on TCM principles and theoretically is very similar to acupuncture. It works with the body's energy system (Chi), using a network of pathways known as meridians, which relate to our internal organs, emotions and spiritual harmony. Shiatsu improves posture and flexibility by stimulating energy flow, correcting and maintaining the structure of the skeleton, joints and muscles and by increasing blood circulation throughout the entire body and organs.

At the beginning of a session the patient is evaluated to eliminate any contra indication and also to determine the best course of treatment.

Shiatsu is performed through a layer of clothing with the practitioner using hands, thumbs, fingers, forearms, knees and feet to apply correct pressure in a process of stretching and mobilizing the receiver's body.

A Shiatsu session leaves the receiver deeply relaxed yet invigorated and with a feeling of tranquillity and well being.

A specialized treatment is available for pregnant women.
