Essentially a canal which runs from the mouth to the anus, called the gastrointestinal tract, this system includes the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines. To carry out its primary functions of breaking down food (for nutrients and energy) and eliminating waste, this system also employs the saliva glands, liver, gall bladder, pancreas and spleen.
Chi Gung
-opens up the body cavities thus reducing constriction which allows the organs more space to work or "breathe"
-uses specific alignments combined with fine movements, to create internal pressures which gently massage the organs, this internal movement also releases tension from the digestive tube, improving its peristaltic action
